Biography
Attorney Peter J. Caruso II serves as chair of the real estate, estate planning and art law practices of Caruso & Caruso, LLP.  Attorney Caruso has counseled family and business clients in the estate planning, trusts, asset protection, conveyancing, litigation, and real estate areas.

Attorney Caruso II specializes in the representation of artists, art organizations, museums, and galleries concerning all areas of art law including such areas as copyright issues, First Amendment issues, accession, deaccession, stolen art, privacy issues, art import and export, provenance, real estate issues and estate planning for artists.

Representative Matters Concluded as Lead Counsel

-
  Secured the release of over 1,000 pieces of art from federal bankruptcy through
   the prosecution of claims under the Massachusetts art consignment statute after
   consignment shop closed its doors

-  Secured the return of artwork to the artist from Massport preserving the artists 
   moral rights and returning copyright ownership to the artist

-  Successfully preserved the rights of an artist to display his artwork and creat his
   artwork made from "found items" through negotiations with the City of Boston

   inspectional department

-  Negotiated the purchase of multi-million dollar suburban office building for client,
   including negotiation of telecommunications lease, and long term commercial banking
   tenant lease

-  Developed estate preservation plan for a well known artist including the
   assistance in establishing a cataloguing system, storage system, valuation  
   system, appointment of a cultural executor and establishing a estate plan to 
   maximize the use of available credits to reduce estate tax liabilities
